Welcome to Derby City Gymnastics Club
Can you help us with sponsorship - Festival Del Sole?

The aim of the club is to encourage each gymnast to attain their highest
possible level, in accordance with the British Gymnastics Association National
Development Plan.
Next year in July 2012, we will be taking over 40 selected Gymnasts to the
Festival Del Sole in Italy and we are asking whether local companies would
sponsor the club to support our gymnasts with any offer of help.
Derby City Gymnastics Club was established in 1998, the first sessions being
held at various schools and leisure centres around Derby. Over the first 12
months the club had grown from just one session a week to many sessions being
held five times a week. The numbers grew so fast that these sessions could not
keep up with the demand and so in 2004 we opened our own fully equipped
gymnastics centre and soon the membership grew to over 400 gymnasts. Following the further expansion of our club, we
are now located at our purpose built centre at the former Lancaster Sports
Centre in Chapel Street, Derby.
Let me tell you about the Festival Del Sole.
The Story
The following editions see the Festival grow more and more: starting from 1992, the
Festival del Sole was born. It’s the first of its kind in Italy and in
Riccione: never before anyone has organized an international non-agonistic
gymnastics exhibition. Right from the First edition, the Festival is a great
success, attracting 58 groups from 11 different European nations.

The athletes can perform on the “Arenas”, real open-air stages set in front of the
sea, the groups are now 76 making a total of 1,850 participating athletes! The
popularity of the Festival continues to rise and in the 1996 edition even 11
groups from Brazil join the event.
Bearing in mind this huge success, the Festival del Sole is
held every two years, while the number of athletes continues to rise. The
fourth and fifth edition hosts groups coming from Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland,
France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Norway, Portugal, Czech Republic, Republic of
San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and Hungary for a total of 1,900
members.

During the following editions the Festival del Sole reaches great importance, with a peak in the ninth edition of 2008: Riccione is literally invaded by more than 3,400 athletes from 19 different countries who perform in front of an audience of 50,000 people!
In 2010 Festival del Sole celebrates its tenth edition. It is a very special edition, which culminates with the great closing Gala in conjunction with Riccione’s Notte Rosa.
The 11th edition will
take place on 1-6 July, 2012.
The Festival
The
Festival del Sole is the biggest international gymnastics exhibition in
the Mediterranean area. For a whole week the city of Riccione is
transformed in a huge stage where more than 3,000 athletes from around
the world perform at their best.

Floor exercises and aerobics, acrogym and acrobatics, rhythmic and artistic, classical and modern dance, hip-hop and funky, these are only a few forms of gymnastics and dances taking place at the Festival del Sole, where there are no limits regarding age or technical levels. The result is that everyone can take part! To join the Festival you only need to be an athletes group having the desire to perform in front of a large audience in the four arenas on the seafront of Riccione and meet other people with the same passion for gymnastics.

No place list, no points, no judges: at the Festival del Sole the only winner is the pleasure of being together and practising sport!
This is a lifetime opportunity for our Gymnasts which is all funded by the parents associated with the gymnasts so any help towards the trip would be a massive help.
